Rewind Yesterday

Today I was bored so I decided to do another review.

So I went through my friend list on MYSPACE and decided to pick Rewind Yesterday
Now Rewind Yesterday features Luke, formerly of ADEMA, but formerly of Rewind Yesterday (I wouldn’t of Left Rewind Yesterday for Adema Luke, but hey, it got your name out there)

So I pulled up their myspace. Last time I saw RY was at I believe Twisters in the battle of the bands against Since July. So I had their old demo cd for a while and I was excited to hear the new recordings of it.

First Song: Buying Every Word (5/5)

There is nothing on this song that I can say it needs this, more this. Its perfect the way it is. It showcases Luke's powerful voice and the amazing guitar and bass work of the band. sorry for not mentioning xxxmas, xxxmas, you know your bad ass and so does everyone else! Lol

Second Song: Emotions Out (5/5)

When I had the original demo, this was my favorite song... I love the guitar parts in this song. Xxxmas' drumbeat during the verse is awesome, that little stutter on the snare. Amazing, This is one of my Favorite Local Song. I'll find myself singing this around my place. Oh and Xxxmas' drum roll is amazing at the end... so clean.

Third Song: First Steps (4/5)

Another great song. These guys are like HIT machines. I think it will be quick until they get signed. I mean, people have heard Luke's strong voice in the industry, so it will be no time. I predict it.

Fourth Song: Buying Every Word (Acoustic) (4/5)

Great version of this song. I love it when a band can take a rocking song like that and turn it into a ballad sort in a way.

So all together, Rewind Yesterday gets an 18/20 in my book
Where is the March 31st at guys? I will be there!!!

FEB 3RD REVIEW, VINNYS BAR

Last Night at Vinny's

Vanity Ave.
Starving Millionaires
The Rumor
Mike Pinto

I pulled up last night at Vinny's bar, got out of my car, and heard the ska music coming from the smoke filled venue. I rushed in to see who was on the stage. I recongnized one member from the local band Mentu Buru, then it clicked. This is Vanity Ave. I have heard about these guys from a friend. So I payed the pretty girl at the door my 5$, walked in, grabbed a beer and sat back to listen. They had a very good sound. Nice and tight you know? Manny has an amazing voice. Great mic control. When he knows he's going to hit a loud note, he pulls it away. Something you don't see kids do now a days. Vanity Ave. has a great sound. Very professional for such a young group.
Next up was Starving Millionaires, not a local band, but that doesn't mean that they can't rock, 3 Piece Punk/Reggae band. Very cool tunes. The singer, for some reason, reminded me of Bradley from Sublime. His singing style, playing, everything.
After them were The Rumor, good band, just not tonight. I say this to any band that plays, if you're going to drink before you play, make sure you can play your songs drunk, cause this was the case last night. Total off night for them.
Finally to end the night was Mike Pinto. Mike Pinto is from Philly and it was just him. No band behind him, Just him. No Friends, just him, but after the show, he had friends. An amazing song writer, lyricist, guitar player. His songs had meaning and you coud feel what he ws trying to come across. If I were you guys, check out his solo project "Mike Pinto" or with his former band "Little District". The night ended with him playing and the drummer for The Rumor going up and jamming with him. Then it went from there into a Sublime song, and the singer and drummer from Starving Millionairs went up and played with him. The singer on bass and the drummer of course on drums. Awesome moment.
It was a fun night last night.
Till next time

My Dysfunctional Me

my review starts off with Bako Band

My Dysfunctional Me

I logged onto their myspace and took a listen. I've heard of them around the Bakersfield music scene. A lot of people like them, they do. So I dropped on their page and started to listen...wow...That's all I can say...The song "Dirty Girl"? Wow deep stuff in that song..... Oh wait... nevermind..At first I was bobbing my head listening to it, then the singing vocals came in... Wow! Where is Simon from American Idol when we need him... Its awful, whiney and struggling to find the notes in key during all the singing of the whole song.. Then the breakdown.. uhhh.... Okay... Nothing much to this song.. I'm done with it..Next song on their myspace is "Within the Silence", more of his whiney singing... Who told him this sounded good? I notices its just the same notes from the other song... Like are these the only notes he can hit? Next song.. Please"screaming of the... " Something should I even review the next song? Its the same vocals... Same notes... I bet I can write for the next song, and then listen to the song and it will be the same... Lets see if I have ESP!!!Without listening, here's my review for "Strange" easy guitar crunchy chords, bass playing root notes and whiney singing, lets see if I'm right!!!Started out different that what I would of thought, vocals were right.... LOL predictable...
I told you all I was going to be honest... Holding nothing back...

Bako's Honest Music Review

Is anyone else tired of live show reviews that said it was all good? Nothing horrible? Nothing about the singers voice sucking? Guitars sounding like shit? Drummer cant find a tempo if it hit him in the ass? Well you know what, I am here to change that. I shall remain nameless in my quest to give you a HONEST review. If you were good, ill tell you. If you sucked, trust me, ill tell you too. I don't care about sugar coating anything. I'll tell it like it is and I just don't care! If you don't like creative criticism, then you're in the wrong spot!
